Position Overview
A New York City real estate law firm is seeking a Jr. Level Real Estate & Commercial Litigation Attorney with 1–3 years of experience handling litigation matters from pleadings through trial in New York State Supreme Court and/or Federal Court. Appellate experience is preferred but not required.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing and analytical skills and be capable of independently managing the pre-trial aspects of complex real estate and commercial litigation. The role offers meaningful client interaction, increasing responsibility, and the opportunity to work with sophisticated commercial real estate owners, lenders, developers, and investors.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings and other litigation documents.
- Prepare and respond to discovery.
- Conduct legal research.
- Draft motions.
- Appear at court conferences and motion hearings.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Assist with trial preparation.
- Independently manage pre-trial aspects of real estate and commercial litigation matters.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of litigation experience , including handling matters from pleadings through trial in New York State Supreme Court and/or Federal Court.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology and software systems.
- Ability to work onsite in New York City five days per week.
- Appellate experience is preferred but not required.
