Litigation Associate - Insurance Defense

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate in Portland, Oregon, to work directly with the Managing Partner on complex civil litigation. This role offers immediate involvement in high-exposure cases, providing an opportunity for significant professional growth and influence on case outcomes.

Duties

• Develop litigation strategy and manage cases from inception through resolution.
• Take and defend depositions and argue contested motions.
• Prepare witnesses and participate in mediations and trials.
• Work directly with clients on significant cases.
• Attend arbitrations and mediations.

Requirements

• Active Oregon State Bar membership.
• 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Experience managing civil litigation files.
• Strong deposition, motion practice, and discovery skills.
• Courtroom experience, including hearings and arbitrations.
• Excellent writing and analytical abilities.
• Trial experience is valued, but not required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Active membership in the Oregon State Bar.
