HDR is looking for a qualified professional engineer to lead the technical aspects and deliverables of HDR’s federal and commercial liquid fuels infrastructure projects. The role involves managing design, mentorship, client relations, and project execution across a variety of fuel system types.

Responsibilities
- Lead the design and technical execution of liquid fuels infrastructure systems for military and commercial clients, including above‑ground operational and bulk storage, hydrant fuel distribution, marine transload and distribution, vehicle on/off loading, and supporting pipeline, pump, and mechanical systems.
- Manage key projects or programs, coordinating technical staff and sub‑consultant teams to meet delivery goals and exceed client expectations.
- Provide analysis, evaluation, and design of fuel systems, ensuring compliance with federal and commercial requirements.
- Participate in marketing, communications, and client development efforts to maximize satisfaction, growth, and profitability.
- Build capabilities through recruitment and staff training in coordination with local, regional, and national leadership.
- Conduct quality control reviews in accordance with HDR policy.
- Support HDR Project Managers with planning and managing all aspects of projects.
- Coordinate the work of engineers, balance resource planning, and manage workload to ensure timely completion of documents.
- Track financial aspects of projects and adjust work effort to remain within agreed‑to schedule and parameters.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active engagement in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
- Master’s degree in architectural engineering with a mechanical emphasis.
- Experience in healthcare, science and technology, and/or civic facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years in mechanical system design for commercial or institutional buildings.
- Professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng) recognized in the location of the position.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and prior team coordination and project management experience.
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
- Commitment to being an active participant in HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
- Ability to work independently, mentor, train, and supervise team efforts.
- Capacity to build local teams and leverage existing staff across the company.
- Strong understanding of client business objectives to determine effective execution strategies.
