Linux Security Engineering Scientist Associate

Purpose: Develop, test, integrate and document information security in large modern TCP/IP Linux network systems in the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) with ARL:UT.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop the information security of modern TCP/IP Linux network systems including security settings, audit mechanisms, compliance mechanisms and infrastructure mechanisms.
  • Design and develop information security automation of modern computer Linux network systems including security settings, audit mechanisms, compliance mechanisms and infrastructure mechanisms.
  • Test, troubleshoot, integrate, audit and profile information security mechanisms of Linux computer network systems to meet system requirements.
  • Document and configuration manage information security mechanisms of modern Linux computer network equipment.
  • Interact with security and technical personnel in support of information security implementation of modern Linux computer network systems.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge designing, configuring, troubleshooting, testing, validating, auditing and documenting information security mechanisms for modern TCP/IP Linux computer network systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with information security principles, policies, compliance and documentation while maintaining high performance.
  • Experience with Linux and network security fundamentals.
  • Experience with security monitoring, profiling, auditing and documenting performance across the full network stack.
  • U.S. Citizen. Selected applicant must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at level appropriate to project requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with focus on information security as applied to Linux network computer systems.
  • Two or more years of professional experience as an Electrical Engineer or Computer Scientist.
  • Knowledge and experience with security and hardening Linux systems.
  • Linux, network, or information security certification.
  • Eligibility for immediate access to classified information.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA requirement.

Salary Range: $88,500-$120,000+/Negotiable depending on qualifications.
