This opportunity is especially well suited for someone with a strong Linux engineering background who has worked extensively with SIEM, log management, endpoint monitoring, and detection technologies. The successful candidate will have experience developing security platforms and data pipelines, rather than solely monitoring alerts within an established SOC environment.

Salary Range: $155,000-175,000/annually, the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineer and enhance enterprise security monitoring, logging, and threat-detection capabilities.
  • Deploy, configure, and optimize endpoint security technologies such as Wazuh, OSSEC, or comparable platforms.
  • Develop detection rules, event correlations, alerting logic, and behavioral or anomaly-based monitoring.
  • Connect infrastructure, applications, endpoints, and other telemetry sources with centralized SIEM and log analytics platforms.
  • Create reliable pipelines for collecting parsing, enriching, normalizing, and routing security event data.
  • Investigate system and security events to evaluate detection effectiveness and reduce unnecessary alerting.
  • Incorporate network telemetry, including NetFlow, into broader monitoring and detection strategies.
  • Partner with infrastructure and engineering teams to improve the availability, consistency, and usefulness of security telemetry.
  • Develop dashboards and visualizations using platforms such as OpenSearch or Elastic.
  • Automate security engineering and platform-management activities using technologies such as Python, Bash, and Ansible.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation covering platform architecture, configurations, detection methodologies, and operational processes.

Qualifications:

  • Strong hands-on experience administering and engineering Linux-based environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working with SIEM, centralized logging, or security analytics platforms, ideally including OpenSearch, Elastic, or similar technologies.
  • Experience implementing or managing Wazuh, OSSEC, EDR, or related endpoint security technologies.
  • Proven ability to create, test, refine, and maintain security detections and alerting logic.
  • Understanding end-to-end logging architecture, including collection, parsing, data transformation, normalization, ingestion, and analysis.
  • Experience analyzing security events and troubleshooting complex telemetry or logging issues.
  • Working knowledge of Python and/or Bash for scripting and automation.
  • Most importantly, experience building, deploying, or substantially improving security platforms, rather than exclusively operating existing solutions.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer to have a direct impact on how security telemetry is collected, analyzed, and transformed into actionable detections. Rather than stepping into a purely operational monitoring position, you'll have the opportunity to build and improve the technology behind the security operation .
