Linguist III (FAIR)

Position Overview
Seeking a Linguist III to support FAIR in linguistic research and multilingual AI analysis.
Required Qualifications
- 0–3 years of relevant professional/research experience.
- Completed PhD in Linguistics required ; theoretical Linguistics preferred.
- Native/near-native English plus native/near-native proficiency in one qualifying language: Filipino/Tagalog, Cebuano, Thai, Lao, Swahili, Hebrew, or qualifying Ethiosemitic language .
- Python, SQL, and basic NLP required.
- Strong knowledge of syntax, morphology, phonology, sociolinguistics, typology, pragmatics, and corpus linguistics.
- Experience working with large datasets and cross-functional ML/NLP/Engineering/Data Science teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze linguistic data and AI model outputs.
- Identify linguistic errors, bias, toxicity, and other language-related issues.
- Conduct typological, sociolinguistic, and NLP-related research.
- Develop and review annotation and language evaluation guidelines.
- Analyze vendor quality and provide actionable feedback.
- Collaborate with AI/ML researchers, engineers, and native speakers.
- Contribute to research projects and publications.
