PRIMA, a new Latin-Caribbean street food concept opening in Union Market, is seeking a dedicated Line Cook to join our team! We are a homestyle scratch kitchen rooted in modern Caribbean-Panamanian flavors, with a focus on our hand-made patties (pan-fried pastries).
We are looking for cooks who are passionate about delivering high-quality food from scratch in an open kitchen, and genuine hospitality. This means that you play a key role in both food preparation, execution, and guest interaction. What You’ll Do:
- Prepare & execute recipes & standard operating systems with consistency, precision, and attention to detail.
- Support efficiency by preparing mise en place and maintain an organized station
- Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, organization and food safety
- Collaborate with teammates to ensure smooth, efficient service
- Maintain a positive, professional & hospitable attitude in a fast-paced kitchen
What We’re Looking For:
- Ability to operate a Point of Sales system/cash register, perform basic math, and troubleshoot problems on the fly
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as established recipes, culinary standard operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety rules
- Ability to speak effectively to customers and coworkers
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays (excluding Christmas) as needed
- Team-oriented mindset and a commitment to excellence
- Ability to commute to two locations depending on the shift — our commercial kitchen in Brookland and our Union Market stall in NoMa
- Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods while cooking
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly during prep, stocking, and equipment handling
