Lighting Service Engineer
Location: Mobile, Alabama
Contract- 3 Years
Client- Alabama Power
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lighting Service Engineer to support lighting design and maintenance activities for Southern Company operations. The ideal candidate will have prior co-op or work experience within SOCO's Distribution or Transmission functions, strong field readiness, and the ability to work independently in various environmental conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform lighting system design, inspection, and service support
* Independently manage fieldwork, including driving between sites
* Conduct outdoor assessments in extreme weather and uneven terrain
* Use basic hand tools (e.g., hammer stakes) for field setup and validation
* Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders on lighting project requirements
* Maintain accurate documentation and data input using Microsoft Office and internal tools
* Track and report progress on lighting-related service tasks
* Apply sound judgment and attention to detail in all aspects of work completion
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related Technical discipline
* Valid driver's license and personal vehicle (car or truck) for job site visits
* Ability to work outdoors in Alabama climate extremes (heat, cold, etc.)
* Comfortable walking on uneven terrain and performing light physical labor
* Strong computer skills , especially with Microsoft Office Suite
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
* Excellent organizational, communication , and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* Prior Southern Company (SOCO) Co-op or relevant utility experience
* Lighting Design experience within a Distribution or Transmission context
* Familiarity with APC priority computer programs
