Job TitleReporting directly to the Director of Animal Services, responsible for overseeing all animal outcome related programs, including adoption, volunteer, foster, marketing/media, community programs, fundraising, and transport. Aids in sustaining a 90% or higher Save Rate and upholds the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) mission and promotes its goals.Examples Of Work PerformedSupervises the flow of the animals through the shelter in order to promote outcomes and reduce the length of stayHires, schedules, promotes, disciplines, and terminates all direct staffDirects work and provides feedback, evaluations, and training for all Adoption Specialists and volunteersCollaborates with the Operations Manager to aid with animal transportsAssumes all duties of any paid direct employees on a temporary or emergency basisMonitors timecards for all direct employees and approves and enters time off requestsConducts staff meetings to review procedures and workplace issues, and facilitate improvements and moraleEnsures shelter software is consistently utilized, updated, and auditedOversees the shelter messaging and communication with the communityMonitors the volunteer and foster programs' recruitment and retentionManages the shelter's satellite adoption center, ensuring high adoption ratesCollaborates with staff to create specific outcome plans as neededReviews the monetary donations received to ensure needs are metCorresponds with national animal welfare organizations to aid in the shelter's missionProvides 24/7 response to foster families on emergency basis for medical needs and/or approval of emergency medical treatments at alternative facilitiesEstablishes, strengthens, and maintains relationships with community agencies, animal welfare organizations, and professional associationsReports all loss, risk, and safety issues or conditions to DirectorDefines and develops volunteer and foster standard operating guidelines and ensures compliance within the teamsParticipates in continuing education opportunities to ensure compliance with industry standards, and to remain current on animal care/control issuesEducates the community about shelter programs and hosts various eventsParticipates in weekly leadership and quarterly Board meetings, prepares agendas, reports, and budgetary updatesActs as temporary public information officer for the shelter, making all media decisions, in absence of DirectorAttends all meetings and trainings, as requiredPerforms special duties as assignedOrganization RelationshipsReports directly to – Director of Animal ServicesDirect Reports – YesPhysical DemandsPosition involves prolonged standing, walking, twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and other fine motor repetitive motionsPosition requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine motor coordinationPosition involves lifting and carrying of animals and equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds, or up to one hundred (100) pounds with assistance, and exertion of up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force to move objectsPosition involves hearing and/or seeing alert cues regarding animal and staff securityPosition involves maintaining composure in a high-stress environmentEnvironmental FactorsWork tasks are conducted indoors and outdoorsMay work outside in inclement weather, including extreme heat, cold and wet conditionsFrequent handling of animals, including contact with waste and bloodExposure to unpleasant smells and a noisy and wet environment associated with a shelterFrequent exposure animals that are agitated or injured that may attempt to bite or scratchPosition involves working in a high-volume, fast-paced environmentPosition involves working with distressed individualsIrregular HoursWork outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be requiredMay be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergencyRegular attendance is requiredMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma and five (5) years of management experience, to include three (3) years animal welfare or community work or four (4) years in development or media; OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceWorking knowledge of Microsoft OfficeKnowledge of animal welfareDemonstrated management knowledge to include basic statistical methods, fiscal and budgeting practices and proceduresPrevious experience in event planningLicenses And CertificationsRequired within thirty (30) days of employmentValid driver's licensePreferred QualificationsBachelors degree in a related fieldPrior experience with Oracle software, Kronos software, and PetPointManagement CertificationEmployment TestingEmployment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:Criminal background check: YesMotor Vehicle Record check: YesDrug screening: YesPhysical exam: NoPsychological exam: NoAdditional: N/ASupplemental InformationA Williamson County online application (resumes alone are not sufficient) must be received before the position is closed.
