Qualifications :
- Minimum 15 years of age.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications for the professional rescuer.
- Pre-employment testing of lifeguard skills and knowledge.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents, and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
- Available to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
- An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, operations, policies, and procedures
- Leadership and public relation skills
- Decision making skills
- Must be able to maintain cleanliness of pool, deck, and equipment
- Must have good swimming skills, plus skills in rescue techniques and procedures, first aid application, CPR and AED
- Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies.
- Administer First Aid or CPR in emergencies and use Automated External Defibrillator (AED) if needed
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations
- Inspect the facility on a daily schedule and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the Aquatics Director and/or Coordinator
- Complete daily maintenance tasks as well as maintenance of proper water quality in both the pools and the spas
- Keep the pool and pool deck clean and free from debris. Pool furniture should be kept in an orderly fashion.
- Hoses and cleaning equipment should never be left unattended and must be put away upon finishing cleaning.
- All pool toys and equipment must be picked up and put away in an orderly fashion.
- Notify the Aquatics Director and/or Coordinator of any equipment failures immediately
- Notify the Aquatics Director and/or Coordinator of any injuries immediately
- Understand that the cleanliness of the Club is a top priority for all members, and therefore, assist whenever necessary to keep the Club spotless
- Display consistent positive and professional attitude towards members, staff, job responsibilities, and Club philosophy
- Maintain proper appearance, including staff uniform when on duty
- Maintain good working relationship with the rest of the Club personnel
- Consistently enforce and uphold club membership and personnel policies
- Personally create and maintain a reputation for credibility and integrity with all members and staff
- Attend all Aquatics Staff Development Trainings to address issues, ideas, concerns of the department, and to refresh basic lifeguard skills
- Actively participate in in-service trainings and club wide events as requested, committees and meetings
when appropriate. - Maintain and administer appropriate feedback to Aquatics members.
- Communicate effectively with all staff members to ensure that all appropriate people are informed of your actions.
- You must be on time and completely responsible for covering your own shift. If necessary, it is your responsibility to find your own substitute.

- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds, including rescue equipment and assisting individuals during emergency situations
- Ability to perform CPR, First Aid, and AED procedures, including kneeling and administering compressions for extended periods.
- Ability to maintain visual acuity and hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to emergencies immediately.
- Ability to work independently and respond quickly to operational needs throughout the aquatics department.
