Ensures pool meets city/county health standards and that chemicals are handled using proper masks. nn Helps organize swimming classes for participants from pre-school to adults. nn Teaches or assists instructors in teaching swim lessons. nn Substitutes for swim lessons and water exercise classes as needed.nn Opens and closes the pool at the scheduled times.Recruit's participants for pool activities.Attends training and meetings as required.Interprets YWCA purpose, imperative, and mission to staff and public.Communicates all problems and questions to supervisor.Communicates with all levels of staff and public as appropriate to the job.Follows all YWCA policies and procedures, including safety procedures, at all times.Responsible for all equipment, supplies, documents, and materials related to job. Complies with all federal, state, and local regulations. n JOB QUALIFICATIONS:n High school degree preferred or be a minimum of 16 years of age enrolled in school with an active student status. Must possess a nationally recognized lifeguard certification. Certification must remain current throughout employment with the YWCA.One (1) year lifeguard experience preferable, or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Knowledge of water safety and pool chlorination and filtration systems preferred. Must possess excellent swimming skills and pass a swim test.Must be First Aid/CPR certified. Certification must remain current throughout employment with the YWCA.Must be able to interact positively and communicate with people of all ages and types essential.Ability to analyze situations and make needed decisions is required.Must be in good physical condition to lift and carry children and adults in water.Must have stamina to work in the sun in extreme heat for long hours.May be required to be on-call and to work weekends and nights.May need to have access to personal vehicle with valid drivers license and sufficient auto liability insurance, if assignment requires performing duties at multiple locations.Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.nn ANTICIPATED BENEFITS:n YWCA Membership and Program Discounts
