Job Description
Under the supervision of the Head Lifeguard and Assistant Aquatics Coordinator, performs basic lifeguard duties, general pool maintenance, and customer service.
Examples Of Duties
Essential job duties:
- Supervises and monitors patrons.
- Provides explanations and clarifications of aquatic procedures.
- Enforces aquatic rules and regulations.
- Encourages awareness of aquatic rules and regulations.
- Rescues swimmers in distress.
- Administers First Aid and/or CPR, if needed.
- Assist with general pool maintenance and clean-up of aquatics facility and restrooms.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum knowledge, skill and ability: Knowledge of basic lifeguard skills.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Perform physical water test indicating competence of rescuing skills.
- Stay alert and attentive and assert good judgment.
- Remain patient and understanding in dealing with patrons of all ages.
- Maintain open lines of communication.
Training and experience: No prior experience necessary.
Supplemental Information
Desired qualifications include current CPR, 1st Aid and Lifeguarding Certifications.
This position is a temporary position and not eligible to participate in any benefit programs of the City, except those mandated by federal or state law. Must participate in a PARS Alternative Retirement System 457 Plan as a replacement for Social Security.
