Life Insurance UnderwriterAAA Life is seeking a Life Insurance Underwriter that will analyze, evaluate and classify risk for life insurance applications. This underwriter will determine whether to approve, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of an individual's medical history or physical condition, occupational hazards, financial background, insurable interest and other information pertinent to the decision. Has contact with the field sales team, customers and vendors to gather information on which to base decisions.

Has authority to approve cases up to specific standard and substandard limits.Note:Mortgage underwriting experience will NOT be consideredCall volume on average is about 4-6 calls a day. Regular late night is 1 day every other week. Friday night late nights are rotated which is about 1 per quarter.Position ResponsibilitiesReviews for acceptance or denial, assigned life applications with face amounts up to $1,000,000 fully underwrittenDetermines and assures that appropriate information necessary to fulfill underwriting requirements has been requested such as; re-examinations, special exams, medical reports, database research, investigations and laboratory studiesInterprets MIB codes, and prepares data and reports to the Medical Information Bureau, which involves knowledge of MIB code meanings and procedures.Provide support for contract change and reinstatement underwriting that may be required.Prepares presentations for underwriters or sales agents that assist with training and development.Qualifications• 2 year College Degree in Finance, Business or Economics• 1-2 years' Life Insurance industry experience (sales experience or strong life insurance sales support and training)Knowledge of life and annuity sales strongly preferredProficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and ExcelStrong communication skills – verbal and writtenAbility to provide strong customer servicePossesses some technology knowledge of insurance system applications and dataWorks well in a team environmentDemonstrates proactive skillsWillingness to work extended hours and weekends, if requiredTeam player and self–starter, highly motivated, and results drivenAbility to effectively function in a fast-paced team environmentDemonstrates a high level of independence and creativity, and looks for opportunities to initiate and follow through on new projects and opportunitiesStrong organizational and follow-up abilitiesAbility to thrive in fast-paced challenging environmentBenefitsWe offer a variety of social programs, flexible work hours and family-friendly benefits to all of our employees.Pension and Retirement PlansMedical, Dental and Vision CoveragePaid Time OffPaid Parental LeaveHybrid Work Environment401KSupport for Community Involvement
