Summary
The LVN, in collaboration with center staff, is responsible for ensuring that the health and oral health needs of children and pregnant women are identified and addressed. This role involves supporting the planning and delivery of health services and maintaining up-to-date health records for each child. The LVN must communicate effectively with both center staff and families to coordinate diagnostic testing, evaluations, treatments, and follow-up care with health service providers. Additionally, the LVN facilitates internal and external referrals to community agencies and ensures that all services provided or actions taken are thoroughly documented It is also essential for the LVN to stay current with all applicable federal, state, and local standards related to children's health and development.
Qualifications
Qualifying skills for this position include but not limited to: Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing education program; Valid Texas License as a Licensed Vocational Nurse; 3 years of nursing experience; (experience working with children ages 0-4 preferred); knowledgeable of community resources to support children and pregnant women's healthy development; current certification in CPR/First Aid, current hearing and vision screening certification (preferred); experience in working with children with disabilities and their families; must have a valid driver's license; bilingual in English and Spanish; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience as determined by the Head Start Director.
