Overview


The Virginia Veterinary Center in Short Pump, VA is hiring a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our outstanding Surgery team.


Compensation



  • Competitive compensation based on experience and skill level. Starting at $30/hr!


Anticipated Schedule



  • Day shift - 4/10-hour shifts per week.

  • Monday–Friday with rotating weekend on-call coverage.

Essential Job Functions



  • Collect diagnostic samples, imaging, and non-laboratory diagnostics (BP, EKG, SPO2) for analysis while understanding normal parameter markers to help facilitate in next steps of diagnostic preparation and communication to veterinarians.

  • Facilitate proper procedure for collecting and submitting diagnostic samples to outside laboratories.

  • Assist veterinarians in all aspects during surgical procedures, including developing anesthetic protocol, administration of premedication and induction agents, intubation, surgical prep, maintenance and monitoring of general anesthesia, recovery care, and proper medical documentation of anesthesia monitoring.

  • Calculate, create, and administer constant rate infusions (e.g., Dopamine CRIs, Fentanyl CRIs, Lidocaine CRIs).

  • Provide empathetic client service when communicating with clients at all stages of their visit, such as triaging, discharging, or providing medical updates.

  • Discharge patients by filling medications, ensuring patient comfort, removing IV catheters, reviewing final invoices, and discussing discharges with pet owners.


About You



  • Credentialed veterinary technician with strong technical skills (e.g., placing IV catheters, venipuncture, administering premedication, anesthesia induction & monitoring, patient preparation, surgical nursing, and perioperative nursing care, radiographs, etc.).

  • You can adapt to the different needs of each patient and remain composed during stressful situations.

  • You are passionate about learning and growing in the industry and caring for animals.
