The Start to Happy Foundation is a small, community-focused mental health nonprofit startup. We provide accessible mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults who lack the income or insurance coverage to afford traditional care. Our work centers on reducing barriers to assessment and treatment so individuals and families can receive the support they need to thrive. We see clients on a sliding-scale basis and do not bill insurance.

Role Overview

We are seeking a California-licensed psychologist to provide clinical supervision for a Registered Psychological Associate (RPA) who conducts psychological assessments. The role focuses on ADHD, ASD, and other diagnostic assessments across the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults). We do not complete forensic assessments.

This is a limited-scope independent contractor position. The supervisor will contract directly with the nonprofit and will provide supervision remotely unless the Board of Psychology requires otherwise. The weekly supervision hour will be conducted via secure synchronous video conferencing (Zoom).

The supervisor will not need to carry a client caseload.

Responsibilities

Provide approximately one hour of clinical supervision per week to the Registered Psychological Associate via secure synchronous audiovisual means.

Review and sign off on 1 2 assessment reports per week.

Offer guidance on assessment processes, diagnostic considerations, report writing, and ethical/clinical standards related to ADHD, ASD, and related evaluations.

Ensure supervision and documentation meet California Board of Psychology requirements for Registered Psychological Associates.

Maintain appropriate records of supervision sessions and remain available by phone or other technology during times the RPA is providing services.

Requirements

Active license as a Psychologist with the California Board of Psychology (BoP).

Ability to enter into an independent contractor agreement with The Start to Happy Foundation.

Experience supervising trainees, associates, or postdoctoral candidates (preferred, especially in assessment).

Familiarity with psychological assessment of ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and related conditions across age groups.

Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback on reports and clinical work.

Strong understanding of California Board of Psychology supervision regulations and ethical standards.

Reliable internet connection and availability for remote supervision meetings.

Position Details

Hours: Approximately 2 hours per week (1 hour of direct supervision via video + time for report review and sign-off).

Rate: $100 per hour.

Schedule: Flexible within the weekly commitment; remote meetings arranged with the RPA and nonprofit leadership.

Relationship: Independent contractor (not an employee).

Start: As soon as a qualified candidate is identified.

Duration: Ongoing contract, subject to continued need and mutual agreement.
