Role Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Onsite Requirement: Mandatory (No Remote / No Telehealth)
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care services to incarcerated individuals under the supervision of the Medical Director, Physician, or Registered Nurse. This role supports medical intake, chronic care, medication administration, sick call, and ongoing patient monitoring within a secure correctional healthcare environment.
The LPN works collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, mental health staff, and custody personnel to ensure safe, compliant, and patient-centered healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Nursing Care
- Provide direct nursing care to inmates in accordance with physician orders and nursing protocols
- Assist with intake medical screenings and health assessments
- Perform vital signs, wound care, specimen collection, and basic treatments
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and report concerns promptly
- Administer prescribed medications in accordance with scope of practice
- Maintain accurate medication administration records (MARs)
- Monitor and report medication side effects or adverse reactions
- Assist with sick call clinics and chronic care follow-ups
- Document patient complaints, observations, and nursing interventions
- Support continuity of care under supervision of RN, NP, or Physician
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in medical records
- Follow all correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and safety protocols
- Comply with New Jersey correctional healthcare standards and regulations
- Work closely with healthcare staff and custody personnel
- Adhere to security procedures within the correctional facility
- Participate in interdisciplinary communication as required
Education: Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing (LPN) program (Required)
Licensure: Active and unrestricted New Jersey Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license (Required)
Experience
- Experience providing nursing care in:
- Correctional facilities, OR
- Institutional healthcare, OR
- Comparable clinical environments (Preferred)
- Direct patient care and nursing support
- Medication administration and monitoring
- Clinical documentation and reporting
- Correctional healthcare protocols
- Infection control and patient safety
- Interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to work in a secure environment
- Strong communication and observation skills
- Licensed New Jersey LPN with experience or strong interest in correctional healthcare
- Comfortable working onsite within a secure correctional facility
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and patient-focused
- Able to work 35 hours per week consistently
