Job Description:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Hours/Days: 5/8.5 hour shifts, Mon-Fri between 8:00am-5:00pm
Organization: New York Health (NYH)
In This Role, You Will:
- Update and maintain the electronic medical record with up to date vital signs, patient demographics, medication reconciliation, allergies and medical diagnoses.
- Manage Physician inbox messages and prioritize tasks assigned via the electronic medical record.
- Assist in maintaining the medical inventory; place orders for new materials and stock rooms to ensure adequate supplies for physician staff.
- Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
- Escort patients to exam rooms.
- Provide patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets.
- Assist physician with exams and/or procedures.
- Prepare and administer Injections.
- Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens.
- Perform point of care lab testing.
- Perform EKGs.
- Administer and document medication under a physician's order and follows the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error.
- Be cross-trained in infusion & intake.
- Current NYS LPN license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- IV Competency required.
- Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
- Experience with EMR's.
- Reliable transportation to any of NYH locations for patient care needs.
- Salary: Starting at $35/hr
