Job Description Position Overview Avella Behavioral Health Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team in a full-time, remote capacity. This role is pivotal in supporting our clients' mental health journeys by providing high-quality therapeutic care. As a mental health counselor, you will leverage your clinical expertise to conduct thorough evaluations, develop tailored treatment plans, and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions. Work Environment This position offers the flexibility of a remote work environment, allowing you to provide support to clients from the comfort of your home while maintaining a connection with a robust team. Our outpatient setting ensures you will primarily work with individuals, couples, families, and groups who are seeking guidance and support for a variety of mental health concerns. You will have access to electronic health record systems such as AVATAR, ensuring thorough documentation and streamlined communication with your colleagues. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations, including preliminary interviews and thorough documentation of client cases from initial consultation through the entire treatment process. Develop evidence-based treatment plans that are individualized to each client’s unique mental, behavioral, and emotional health needs, tailored for diverse populations including individuals, couples, families, and therapeutic groups. Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, employing therapeutic techniques that promote recovery and resilience. Monitor and assess client progress throughout treatment, making necessary adjustments to intervention plans based on feedback and clinical findings. Coordinate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to create collaborative intervention strategies. Provide follow-up care for clients transitioning to or from inpatient facilities and assist in maintaining communication with their treating psychiatrists. Identify potential barriers to recovery, such as maladaptive behaviors or environmental stressors, and implement strategies to mitigate these challenges. Support family members and primary caregivers in understanding and managing behavioral health issues, equipping them with resources and strategies for fostering a supportive environment. Patient Population / Client Focus In this role, you will be working with a diverse client population, ranging from adolescents facing developmental challenges to adults dealing with complex mental health issues. You will provide care to individuals struggling with conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use disorders. As a mental health counselor at Avella, you will play a significant role in empowering your clients to achieve their mental wellness goals through tailored interventions and compassionate support. Qualifications Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution. Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Arizona. Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE). Demonstrated experience in a mental health counseling role, focusing on evidence-based practices. Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, to document patient progress and maintain accurate records. Experience addressing dual-diagnosis clients, specifically those with co-occurring mental health and addiction disorders. Familiarity with the best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA). Thorough understanding of the pharmacological treatments prescribed by medical specialists and their implications on mental health treatment. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills accompanied by an exceptional ability to build rapport with clients. Empathetic, patient-centered approach with strong interpersonal skills. Preferred Experience Prior experience working in a remote capacity, demonstrating adaptability and self-sufficiency. Expertise in specific therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or Motivational Interviewing. Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices and their integration into treatment plans. Compensation and Benefits The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
