Lead Social Worker

Positive Generations In Christ, Inc. is seeking a lead social worker for its substance abuse and mental health program. The social worker will provide mental health and substance abuse services to clients dealing with addiction abuse or mental illness. The social worker will act as an advocate and help clients gain access to resources while confronting their personal issues, such as mental illness, addiction, and abuse.

The social worker is expected to behave ethically and professionally, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and be capable of working with diverse populations. The profession requires emotional resilience and stability since the work often involves dealing with crises.

Educational requirements include a master's degree in social work with North Carolina state board of social work licensure. Experience of at least 2-3 years with mental health/substance abuse population; child/adolescents/adult is required. The social worker must be experienced with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in substance abuse and mental health.

Work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; some Saturdays as needed. Clinical responsibilities include maintaining ethical and professional behavior, overseeing same level credentials, managing a caseload of therapy and group treatment patients, providing treatment in the home and office (telehealth due to COVID), completing clinical paperwork, advocating for patient needs, engaging in individual supervision, working with other clinical staff in the community, discussing issues related to mental illness, substance abuse, trauma, poverty, or other challenges with clients in individual and group therapeutic settings, attending peer supervision, planning courses of treatment based on the patient's cultural identity factors, providing crisis intervention as needed, consulting with other mental health professionals/substance abuse professionals, facilitating referrals to support agencies as needed, attending workshops, conferences, and meetings to uphold license/certifications and develop more knowledge, overseeing programming and providing training and supervision of subordinate personnel, and other clinical duties assigned by the supervisor or director within the scope of the licensed professional.
