The Chatsworth Area Library seeks a collaborative individual to lead a team of staff and volunteers dedicated to offering an outstanding library within our community.
Job Summary:
The Library Director is responsible for the overall administration of library services, such as hiring and supervising library staff; implementing policies as established by the board; receiving and expending funds according to the budget; and overseeing community services.
Job Duties:
- Compile budget reports, reports on circulation statistics and other relevant data
- Prepare annual report for ultimate submission to state library
- Advise board on issues from policymaking to budget preparation and developments in the library field
- Hire and supervise library staff
- Implement policies as established by the board
- Prepare draft budget
- Prepare grant applications
- Supervise maintenance of grounds, building, safety programs, and state and federal regulations
- Oversee selection and maintenance of library materials
- Interface with community members and groups to develop support for the library
- Oversight in the depositing and disbursing of library funds; maintaining appropriate records; and providing a monthly Treasurer's Report to the Board
- Develop after school programming and other children's programs
- Organize volunteers to work with the after school programs and other children's programs
Job Required Skills, Education, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Master of Library Science degree preferred
- Administrative skills, especially the ability to supervise staff and delegate responsibly
- Financial and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret and manipulate statistical data
Hours: Negotiable Salary: Based on experience and credentials
