The role requires applying established Legal Editing Guidelines to quickly and accurately identify legal issues and determine the precedential impact to cases and statutes cited within opinion to ensure legal accuracy and proper analysis of legal precedent.The Editor/Publisher II evaluates the relationship between citing and cited authorities, determines precedential impact, and applies appropriate history and treatment letters and phrases. This role requires strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver high-quality work within defined timelines. This is a home-based position.Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Analysis & Editorial Decision-MakingAnalyze legal documents to identify key issues and determine precedential relationships between cases and statutesApply approved history and treatment letters and phrases in accordance with Legal Editing GuidelinesContent Review & ValidationReview history and treatment lettering against source material to ensure accuracy of legal issues and outcomesIdentify gaps, inconsistencies, or misinterpretations in output and correct as neededQuality & Workflow ExecutionEnsure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all editorial workMeet production targets and deadlines while maintaining high quality standardsVerify history chains and treatment relationships using designated tools and workflowsIssue Resolution & Continuous ImprovementResolve complex editorial and legal analysis questionsIdentify guideline ambiguities or workflow improvements and raise them through appropriate channelsPerform additional editorial or administrative tasks as assignedPreferred QualificationsJD, LLB, or LLM degreeStrong legal research, analytical, and writing skillsDemonstrated ability to interpret and apply legal precedent and editorial guidelinesAbility to work independently while exercising sound judgment and escalation when appropriateExcellent reading comprehension and issue-spotting skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlinesFlexibility to adapt to evolving workflows, including AI-assisted processesStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience working in a remote or distributed team environmentPrimary Location Base Pay Range: Home based-Colorado $53,900 - $89,800. If performed in Maryland, the base pay range is $56,500 - $94,200. U.S. National Base Pay Range: $53,900 - $89,800. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates.
