Legal AssistantHoward & Howard is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our Chicago, IL office. This full-time position offers a dynamic opportunity to support attorneys across all stages of litigation matters, with emphasis in commercial and business litigation.We're looking for a candidate who brings professionalism, discretion, and strong organizational skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across all levels of the firm. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support, including:Electronic filing in state and federal courts as needed.Manage assigned attorneys' calendars, dockets, and appointments.Maintain and complete attorney time entry and billing.Maintain client files in DMS (Netdocs) as well as the physical file.Screen incoming calls and correspondence and respond as necessaryTranscribe dictation and compose and prepare confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex litigation documents.Provide back-up support to other legal assistants as assigned or needed.Maintain confidentiality of all firm and client matters.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications & CompetenciesHigh school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferredMinimum of 2 years of litigation experienceStrong interpersonal and communication skillsExceptional attention to detail and organizational abilitiesProficiency in state and federal e-filing procedures and trial preparationPossess excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with attorneys, staff, and clientsAbility to manage high-volume workloads with accuracyTeam-oriented mindset with a collaborative approachAbility to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentStrong command of Microsoft 365Why Join Us?We offer a collaborative work environment where your contributions are valued and your growth is supported.
