Legal AssistantOur client is seeking an experienced legal assistant to support a busy Workers' Compensation Defense practice. This position is ideal for a highly organized legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working closely with attorneys to keep cases moving efficiently from inception through resolution.The successful candidate will play a critical role in document preparation, case management, client communication, and litigation support while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and confidentiality.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive administrative and legal support to Workers' Compensation Defense attorneys.Prepare, proofread, and finalize legal correspondence, pleadings, reports, and litigation documents.Transcribe legal dictation, including status reports, settlement documents, conference summaries, and case-related correspondence.Maintain accurate electronic and physical case files, calendars, and legal records.Prepare Pre-Trial Conference Statements, trial exhibits, settlement documents, hearing materials, and deposition binders.Coordinate attorney calendars, deadlines, hearings, depositions, and appointments.Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, medical providers, and court personnel.Accurately record billable time and maintain compliance with firm billing procedures.Utilize multiple legal software platforms and online systems while troubleshooting basic technical issues as needed.Handle incoming and outgoing telephone calls and assist with general office support.Perform additional legal and administrative duties as assigned.Qualifications3+ years of Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary experience within a Workers' Compensation Defense law firm.Strong understanding of workers' compensation litigation procedures and legal terminology.Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Word.Experience using Adobe Acrobat and cloud-based document management systems (Dropbox or similar).Excellent typing, proofreading, grammar, and written communication skills.Experience with Case Management Software is required; familiarity with VTransact and EAMS is highly preferred.Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and legal staff.Ideal CandidateWe're looking for someone who is:Highly organized and exceptionally detail-orientedAble to thrive in a fast-paced litigation environmentComfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneouslyA proactive problem solver with strong critical thinking skillsProfessional and client-focusedA dependable team player who takes pride in producing high-quality workComfortable learning and utilizing legal technology and case management software
