All minimum qualifications must be from an accredited institution and met by the effective date of appointment. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting the minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.Associate Degree in Building Trades or Industrial Technology AND five (5) years related work experienceORFifteen (15) college credits in Building Trades or Industrial Technology AND seven (7) years related work experience including training.Desirable Qualifications:Demonstrated knowledge of the Native Hawaiian language, history, politics, culture, practices, and contemporary issues.Current or former Electrical, Plumbing or other trade Journey Worker licenseRenewable energy or General ContractorFacility Engineer/Maintenance TechnicianOperations and Maintenance Director/ManagerLicensed Architect/Civil EngineerProfessional work experience and knowledge in two or more of the following trades: Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Carpentry, Drafting, Masonry, Plumbing, Electricity, Welding, Painting and Sustainable TechnologyTeaching experience at the Community College or Trade Apprenticeship levelFamiliarity with competency-based instruction and behavioral objectivesExperience in distance educationDemonstrated ability to work with adult learnersDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writingDemonstrated ability to work with students on an individual/informal basis and to work with people with multi cultural backgrounds and abilities.
