Cal Lutheran's School for Professional and Continuing Studies invites applicants for a full-time Lecturer position in Fall 2027. This position supports two academic majors-Accounting & Financial Analysis and Business Management-and includesresponsibilities across both programs, with teaching assignmentsbased on the successful candidate's areas of expertise. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual dedicated to teaching andmentoring post-traditional undergraduate students. We seekcandidates with experience and skill in both the subject matter andin serving as a mentor for African-American, Latina/o, and/orNative American students.

The minimum academic credentials for consideration are an MBA, anMS in Business Management, an MS in Accounting, or a closely related degree, and some relevant professional workexperience.

The successful candidate will assume Department Chairresponsibilities for the Accounting & Financial Analysis andBusiness Management majors, beginning in their first year.

The School for Professional and Continuing Studies' Bachelor'sDegree for Professionals program is a student-centered learningcommunity, designed to meet the educational needs of returningpost-traditional learners (i.e., students who are 18 years orolder, usually working adults). As of Fall 2025, approximately70.8% of our Professionals undergrad students identify as beingfrom underrepresented racial and ethnic populations, with over62.5% identifying as Latina/o. Additionally, about 70.8% of ourstudents are first-generation college students and 57.5% are PellGrant recipients.

We currently offer six majors leading to a bachelor's degree, eachsupported by a strong curriculum that gives students the knowledgebase they will need to enhance or pursue a career in industry orattend graduate school. Courses are taught in an accelerated format(i.e., 8-week terms, five terms per year). All courses are offeredonline, with students able to choose to attend a one-hour onlinesynchronous class meeting, or to attend classes fullyasynchronously. Two majors are also offered in the traditionalin-person format (Business Management being one) with classesmeeting for 3.5-hour sessions at the Thousand Oaks campus. Basic Function

Under the direction of the Dean, the full-time Lecturer isresponsible for providing academic instruction to students for theassigned undergraduate courses. In addition, the full-time Lectureris to serve as a mentor to students, contribute to department anduniversity activities, and serve on faculty or universitycommittees as outlined in the faculty handbook.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses and beproficient in general topics in their core discipline(s), includingBusiness Management, Accounting, or both.

Additional responsibilities include curriculum review anddevelopment, hiring and mentoring adjunct faculty, mentoringpost-traditional adult learners, collaborating with programacademic counselors, recruitment/outreach, and participating intask forces/committees. The successful candidate will be asked toupdate online courses, as necessary. The successful candidate willteach and mentor students at the Thousand Oaks campus andonline.

In sum, the successful candidate will: (1) be proficient atteaching diverse, post-traditional undergraduate students, (2) haveexperience or demonstrate interest in teaching online and updatingonline courses, and (3) participate in service at the department,school, and university level.

Representative Duties

• Teach undergraduate courses (24 or 30 units/year) withDepartment Chairs receiving release time for Chairresponsibilities.
• Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab,or performance courses. Teach in one-on-one, classroom, anddistance mediated instructional settings.
• Create assignments and activities that promote hands-on, activelearning, enabling students to develop their subject-matterexpertise while strengthening their cognitive, communication, andhigher-order thinking skills.
• Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting courseobjectives and student learning outcomes through assignments,projects, discussions, and examinations. Provide feedback in atimely manner to student inquiries in class, online, or duringestablished consultation office hours.
• Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment,attendance, student academic progress, and course curriculum.Prepare and submit grades, data, and reports related to the courseand student progress promptly.
• Provide a course syllabus to students in each class within thefirst week of the class, as outlined in the faculty handbook.
• Mentor diverse, post-traditional undergraduate students.
• Recruit, appoint, and evaluate adjunct faculty.
• Serve as a liaison between the department and other units ofthe institution.
• Promote the major/program to external audiences.
• Work with faculty, students, and staff to establish andmaintain a long-term vision for the department that is consistentwith the departmental, school, and university missions.
• Adhere to the responsibilities related to teaching, advising,service, and professional, and creative activities, as outlined inthe faculty handbook.
• Attend and participate on committees and in the department,school, campus, and University meetings.
• Evening hours are required. Weekend hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a master's degree in Business, Accounting, or aclosely related field, and have 1-3 years of applicable,professional work experience.

Hiring Range

Hiring Range $63,000 - $82,000
