Leadman

LeadmanThe Leadman serves as the second-in-command on an assigned project, crew, work area, or shift. A Leadman is expected to read and interpret project drawings, organize daily work, direct field personnel, and execute assigned project requirements with minimal oversight. A Leadman may generally supervise or coordinate a crew of up to approximately 8–10 field employees, depending on project complexity, employee experience, and the direction of the Superintendent.A Leadman may be responsible for:Directing daily work for an assigned crew.Communicating daily goals and work assignments.Reading and interpreting project drawings.Coordinating installation activities.Monitoring employee productivity and workmanship.Verifying that work is completed in accordance with project requirements.Identifying material, equipment, drawing, and access needs.Reporting delays, conflicts, and field conditions to the Superintendent.Maintaining safe work practices within the assigned crew.Coaching and developing field personnel.Confirming accurate project and timekeeping information.Assisting with daily reports and project documentation.Protecting company tools, materials, equipment, and customer property.Maintaining professional communication with project stakeholders.Expected Technical CompetenciesAll Mechanic II competencies.Plan and sequence work activities.Coordinate crew assignments.Identify productivity risks.Direct field installations.Review work performed by others.Resolve routine field conflicts.Coordinate material needs.
