Lead For Tool & DieThe Lead for Tool & Die is responsible for overseeing and directing tool and die employees to produce high-quality residential and commercial air conditioning and heating products. Leads the team to produce in an efficient manner with disruptive-free production, and safe work environment. The Tool & Die Makers are responsible for maintaining all tooling in the Plant. The scope of duties are as follows: Sharpening all tooling and maintain proper punch entry and pass line heights, establish timing of stations on all progressive tooling, have the ability to maintain all forming stations in the tooling, ability to operate all tool room equipment, competency to build miscellaneous jigs and fixtures, ability to work with minimal supervision, & ability to trouble-shoot tooling problems at the press. Position Responsibilities may include: Design die details and FAI engineering in CAD. Run EDMs and Program EDMs. Communicate with Operations team leads to set priority. Set priority levels of projects/tasks and direct die makers to specific tasks based on priority (including Press Calls). Own 5S in shop and maintain tooling to ensure quality production parts.
Build Jigs & Fixtures. Trouble-shoot tooling problems at the press. Implement Engineering Changes on existing tooling. Takes direction from Manager. Provides guidance and direction to department employees. Thorough knowledge of Machine Shop Practices. Have advanced knowledge in die making (able to repair and/or fabricate replacement tooling for molds and dies with tool room equipment excluding equipment limitations). Ability to set up, operate, and conversationally program conventional, manual, and computer-numeric controlled (CNC) machines and equipment. Ability to fixture and design methods of manufacturing complex parts.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and CAD/CAM drawings. Able to read micrometers, calipers and all other precision measuring equipment. Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of workpieces. Ability to teach employees proper work methods. Effective organizational and time management skills, with ability to multitask and prioritize to manage multiple projects/assignments ensuring on-time completion. Strong communication skills to facilitate understanding and problem solving with cross-functional teams and colleagues. Attention to detail, ability to work independently and make competent decisions. Ability to work in a safe manner. 6+ years of experience as a Machinist.
6+ years of Tool & Die work experience in sheet metal fabrication shop is required. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Technical degree or a minimum of 6 years of progressive on the job experience. Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
