Be the Teacher Every Classroom Can Count On

J-Bear Child Development Center is looking for an experienced, dependable, and flexible Floater Teacher to support classrooms throughout our school.

Our Floater Teacher plays an important role in keeping the school running smoothly. Rather than being assigned to only one classroom, you will work with multiple age groups , stepping in where support is needed throughout the day.

We are looking for someone who can walk into different classrooms, quickly learn the routine, connect with children, support fellow teachers, and provide consistent, high-quality care.

What You'll Do

As a Floater Teacher, you will:

  • Step into classrooms as needed to maintain appropriate staffing and ratios
  • Maintain active supervision and prioritize children's safety
  • Support Lead and Assistant Teachers with daily classroom routines
  • Engage children in age-appropriate learning activities and play
  • Assist with meals, transitions, rest periods, diapering/toileting, and other care routines as appropriate
  • Use positive guidance and developmentally appropriate classroom management strategies
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and welcoming classrooms
  • Adapt quickly to different classroom schedules and expectations
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and school leadership
  • Follow all health, safety, licensing, and school requirements
  • Provide additional school support as needed throughout the day

What We're Looking For

A successful Floater Teacher is someone who is flexible, dependable, confident, and comfortable working with children across different developmental stages .

Required Qualifications

  • Must meet applicable North Carolina childcare employment and credential requirements
  • ITS/SIDS training
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Required early childhood credentials
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Ability and willingness to work with all classroom age groups

Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center or preschool is strongly preferred.
