Responsibilities
- Support the goal of maximizing the after‑tax return of the group
- Research complex issues arising from new business activity and legislative developments
- Lead advanced tax systems improvements and process improvements
- Participate in the professional trade tax committees and working groups
- Prepare, coordinate, oversee and review the most complex aspects of the tax compliance and tax provision processes
- Research, model, and draft arguments of complex issues for tax audits and appeals
- Identify and lead process improvement department projects
- Evaluate strengths of the position and recommend strategies
- Assist management in analyzing and integrating data related to mergers and acquisitions
- Provide training to tax staff and develop ongoing internal and external relationships
Requirements
- CPA license preferred
- 5+ years of experience preferred
- Experience with GAAP and statutory accounting
- Demonstrated experience analyzing complex concepts related to taxation, insurance accounting, or a related field
- Experience working in the insurance industry preferred
- Understanding of accounting, accounting systems, budget, or tax concepts
- Demonstrated experience communicating complex financial information
- Demonstrated experience providing customer‑focused solutions or support
- Demonstrated experience reflecting flexibility and problem‑solving attributes
