The Role
AMD seeks a Lead Systems Debug Engineer to provide technical leadership for system bring‑up, validation, and debug of next‑generation data‑center GPU platforms. The role will drive platform readiness across hardware, firmware, software, networking, power, and SoC subsystems while leading root‑cause analysis and resolution efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead system bring‑up, validation, and debug activities for datacenter GPU platforms.
- Drive root‑cause analysis and resolution of complex hardware, firmware, and software issues.
- Develop validation plans, debug processes, and technical documentation.
- Perform hands‑on board‑level analysis, including power, electrical, and system validation.
- Collaborate with architecture, software, firmware, and hardware teams to ensure platform readiness.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership while fostering a culture of collaboration and operational excellence.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in SoC or system‑level debug and validation.
- Strong knowledge of GPU architecture and platform components (PCIe, HBM, retimers, power systems, networking).
- Expertise with industry‑standard debug tools, oscilloscopes, and board‑level diagnostics.
- Experience developing debug capabilities, validation methodologies, and production qualification processes.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, or Python.
- Familiarity with Agile development, Git, cloud infrastructure, and database technologies.
- Proven ability to resolve critical issues in lab, manufacturing, customer, or datacenter environments.
- Strong customer‑facing and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Academic Credentials
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in system‑level or SoC debug, validation, and triage.
