Job DescriptionCoordinates the schedule and efforts of the Central Sterile Processing Techs. Trains and mentors CSPD Techs. Provides services in the decontamination and sterile processing areas whenever monitoring of sterilizers is needed.
Collaborates with OR staff to provide sterile instruments and equipment needed for operative procedures. Assists with ongoing inventory of sterile supplies, equipment, schedule completion and communication for the department. Position performs duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision.ResponsibilitiesDecontaminates, cleans and processes items according to established standards.Utilizes equipment in the sterile processing environment according to manufacturer's guidelines.Inspects and correctly assembles instrument trays replacing broken or lost instruments as needed.Coordinates the schedule and efforts of the Central Sterile Processing Techs.
Trains and mentors CSPD Techs.Performs sterility assurance testing to meet regulatory requirements.Completes documentation of the sterilization process accurately to meet regulatory standards and provide tracking mechanisms.Implements appropriate measures in the event of an unusual occurrence.Maintains a safe working environment in a neat and orderly manner.Prioritizes assigned duties according to deadlines.Attends staff meetings and other department activities as assigned.Utilizes supplies and materials in a cost containment manner.Maintains power equipment according to established standardsOther related job tasks or responsibilities as assignedQualificationsSpecial Skills Ability to read in English to follow oral and/or written instructions.Must perform repetitive duties on a daily basis, be detail minded and organized.Must be self-motivated and able to coordinate and prioritize workload in order to complete work and meet daily deadlines.Ability to adapt to changes in workload and flexibility to adjust work scheduled as assigned.Ability to communicate effectively with customers.Knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.Thorough knowledge of instrumentation, equipment and supplies.Minimum Requirements Experience: Two years of central sterile, decontamination or sterile processingPreferred Requirements Education: High school or equivalent preferred to enable individual to follow oral or written instruction in English.Certifications: Central Sterile Processing Technician CertificateAbout UsAbrazo Arrowhead Campus Hospital is committed to providing exceptional patient care in a supportive and collaborative environment.
