Lead Software Engineer (Java/Spring Boot)
Our client, a high-growth fintech modernizing the syndicated loan market, needs a hands-on Lead Software Engineer for its real-time loan data platform. You'll own a product vertical, set technical direction with the Architects, and lead a squad of full-stack engineers building performant, secure applications used by major institutional clients.
This is a player-coach role: you'll write code, run code reviews, drive architecture decisions, and mentor the team — while partnering with Product and UX to ship what clients actually need.
What You'll Do
- Own technical direction and delivery for your squad — quality, performance, scalability
- Lead architecture discussions, code reviews, and implementation decisions
- Build test automation across the stack and enforce engineering best practices
- Mentor engineers day-to-day and unblock the team
- Partner with Product and Project Managers on scope, timelines, and priorities
What You Bring
- 10+ years of full-stack development — Java/Spring Boot backend, React or Angular with TypeScript frontend
- Proven experience leading technical projects or teams in an agile environment
- Strong architecture, design pattern, and performance optimization skills
- REST APIs, GraphQL, SQL and NoSQL databases
- Git, Maven/Gradle, CI/CD pipelines
- BS/BA in Computer Science or related field

- Financial services background — syndicated loans or leveraged finance a big plus
