Position Purpose

Performs complex analysis, design, development, automated unit and integration testing, and debugging of computer software ranging from operating system architecture to application programming. Designs, codes, tests, develops, and documents application programs for computer systems. Works with end‑users and project stakeholders to define system scope and objectives, manages modifications and maintenance of operational programs and procedures, and leads stakeholder and product owner meetings to define software requirements. Acts as a mentor to junior engineers.

Essential Functions

  • Lead a team of software engineers in design, development, and implementation of multiple applications, performing detailed technical design, coding, code review, and testing of new and existing applications.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert for specified systems and their subsequent applications, developing interface design documentation and ensuring compliance with hardware and software standards.
  • Identify gaps in requirements and develop solutions, evaluate risk and opportunity impacts, and implement risk mitigation actions to improve performance and system availability.
  • Support the Project Manager as the technical team lead, estimating technical costs, consulting with clients, and offering alternatives.
  • Lead software design and development teams, managing technical resources, planning transformation initiatives, extending open‑source libraries, and playing a key role in product scoping and roadmap discussions.

Supervisory Responsibility

Position does not have direct reports but is expected to guide and mentor less experienced staff and may lead a team of matrixed resources.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or in lieu of a degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.

Experience

8 years of software design and development, software test and evaluation, and software requirements management.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Strong healthcare domain knowledge with deep understanding of ITS claims processing (plus).
  • Deep understanding of Facets integration components, data models, API/Microservices, and Facets FXI services.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Facets core batch and surrounding ETL jobs.
  • Knowledge of database technologies (Oracle, SQL Server, and cloud options such as AWS, Azure, MongoDB, PostgreSQL).
  • Knowledge of programming languages (JavaScript, C, Python, Java) and microservices.
  • Basic knowledge of IBM MQ and mainframe (AS400) formats and technologies (plus).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, Test‑Driven Development (TDD), and Behavior‑Driven Development (BDD).
  • Experience with deployment, continuous integration, continuous testing, and configuration management for global applications.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical requirements to all levels.

Salary Range

$115,128 - $228,657

Physical Demands
