The role ensures supplier compliance with contractual quality requirements and supports project delivery through vendor surveillance, inspection, testing, documentation review, schedule monitoring, and supplier performance management.The position works closely with Vendor Performance Management personnel, suppliers, third-party inspection agencies, Project VPM Managers, QA/QC teams, and project stakeholders to ensure supplied equipment and materials conform to project requirements throughout fabrication and manufacturing activities.In addition, the Lead Shop Coordinator serves as a field-based leader supporting inspection personnel, coordinating supplier activities, identifying schedule and quality risks, and contributing to successful project delivery through proactive supplier oversight.Functional Responsibilities:Coordinate inspection activities with VPM Coordinators, suppliers, and third-party inspection agencies in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Fabrication Quality Control Plans (FQCPs)Obtain and review purchase orders, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation required to support inspection activitiesConduct on-site supplier inspection and expediting visitsReview and monitor approved shop inspection procedures and quality processesExamine equipment for compliance with technical specifications, codes, and engineering drawingsOversee Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities including MT, PT, RT, and UTWitness testing activities and quality hold points as requiredProduce inspection deliverables including pre-inspection meeting reports, pre-fabrication meeting reports, inspection reports, expediting reports, flash reports, inspection release notes, supplier punch lists, and non-conformance reportsReview and sign applicable manufacturing records including Mill Test Certificates and Manufacturing Data Record BooksMaintain accurate inspection records and documentation using approved systems and toolsMonitor supplier fabrication schedules and identify schedule impactsMonitor supplier quality performance and identify quality-related issuesInitiate and follow up on supplier quality concerns with relevant stakeholdersDevelop and coordinate schedule mitigation plans with suppliers and project teamsPerform supplier shop surveys and recertification activities as requiredLeadership / Management Responsibilities:Act as lead coordinator for seconded inspection personnel supporting supplier activitiesCoordinate inspection and quality activities among suppliers, contractors, and third-party inspection agenciesProvide guidance regarding quality requirements, inspection activities, and supplier compliance expectationsFacilitate communication among suppliers, project teams, QA/QC personnel, and VPM managementSupport supplier and third-party agency performance evaluationsContribute to development and awareness training for junior VPM personnelCoordinate schedule mitigation activities with suppliers and project stakeholders to support successful deliveryPromote continuous improvement in supplier quality and performance management processesCompliance / Operational Responsibilities:Ensure compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, and quality standardsVerify supplier adherence to approved fabrication and inspection proceduresMaintain compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and certification requirementsEnsure quality records, inspection reports, and manufacturing documentation are complete and accurateSupport non-conformance management and corrective action processesEnsure timely reporting of schedule and quality risksMaintain organized documentation within approved document management systemsSupport continuous improvement of supplier quality and inspection processesEnsure inspection and expediting activities are executed in accordance with company procedures and project requirementsQualifications:Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentMinimum 7 years of experience in a technical field or supplier shop environmentRotating equipment experienceKnowledge of industry codes and standards including ANSI B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, ASME Sections V and IX, API 510, 570, 620, 650, 936, 963, and AWS D1.1Welding and manufacturing technology knowledgeStrong knowledge of materials and equipment used in fabrication and manufacturing environmentsExperience working in multicultural, collaborative team environmentsAvailability to work flexible hours as requiredAbility to travel approximately 75% of working timeProficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and virtual meeting platformsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsFluent English communication skills, both written and verbalAWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI/SCWI) or Certified Welding Educator (CWE)NDE Level II Certification (VT, MT, PT, UT, RT)Ability to meet STN-TC-1A visual acuity requirementsAbility to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, and walk extended distancesPreferred
