Serving as the primary authority on autonomous vehicle safety compliance, the full-time remote Lead Safety Assurance Specialist will manage regulatory engagement, oversee compliance documentation, and provide expert guidance on safety standards to ensure alignment with federal and state regulations. Key responsibilities Review and approve SGO incident narratives, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards Monitor and analyze federal and state AV regulatory requirements, identifying gaps in internal safety policies Create and maintain comprehensive compliance documentation and prepare regulatory submissions for safety-related engagements Required qualifications 7+ years of experience in AV safety regulation, incident management, or safety compliance within NHTSA, a federal agency, or an AV/automotive company Deep familiarity with NHTSA's Standing General Order (SGO) reporting requirements and crash investigation processes Hands-on experience with FMVSS, NHTSA exemption frameworks, and SAE ADS taxonomy Proven ability to prepare and manage regulatory submissions and compliance documentation Experience collaborating with legal counsel on regulatory matters and strategy
