Perception Systems Team Lead
Company Overview
We are supporting a global leader in agricultural and construction equipment, building the machines and technology that help farmers and builders work more productively and more sustainably. The engineering teams develop everything from alternative-power drivetrains to advanced precision and automation systems. If you want to grow your skills on a collaborative, worldwide team tackling hard real-world problems, this is the place to do it.
Role Overview
As Perception Systems Team Lead, you will own the engineering development of perception systems across a range of agricultural applications, including autonomy, sense-and-act, row guidance, and more.
Core Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of resilient perception stacks that fuse real-time input from cameras, radar, LiDAR, and thermal imaging.
  • Build and sustain the core algorithms across machine learning, computer vision, and sensor fusion.
  • Set safety-critical thresholds for collision avoidance, obstacle detection, and hazard response across open terrain.
  • Harden algorithms against field conditions such as airborne dust, mud, mechanical vibration, and variable light.
  • Own field-validation programs that prove out performance across live crop settings and varying stages of growth.
  • Close the loop between simulated test environments and how equipment actually behaves in the field.
  • Guide the porting of systems onto a range of ag machinery.
  • Work alongside hardware groups to pick the right sensors, compute units, and mounting points on the machine.
  • Coordinate with vehicle control teams so perception outputs feed cleanly into steering and actuation.
  • Turn agronomic requirements (yield mapping, weed detection, and the like) into engineering specs, working in step with product management.
  • Hold code standards through peer review, test automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Run the team's agile cadence: standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives that keep delivery on track.
  • Drive individual growth via performance reviews, well-defined OKRs, and ongoing development.
  • Own supplier relationships across sensor vendors, data-labeling partners, and cloud compute.
  • Champion a strong, collaborative team culture.
Required Qualifications
  • A master's degree in engineering, plus five or more years applying perception systems to computer-vision problems.
  • Five-plus years of production software development in Python and modern C++ (C++14 or later).
Preferred Background
  • Prior experience leading teams that delivered commercial products built on perception technology.
