Job Summary

Lead Paramedic

Lead Paramedics provide advanced medical care and patient transport. They possess complex knowledge and skills, assist and direct EMS responders, and act as key contact for EMS on scene. They support management in EMS operations, including licensing, staffing, education, equipment maintenance, finance, and quality assurance. They provide patient care at receiving facilities and engage in physical activities such as lifting, moving, and balancing patients. They attend training to maintain certifications and keep up with advancements.

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate patient care, assessment, education, triage, and other nursing interventions
• Collaborate with colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate care
• Provide empathetic care during all stages of preventive services, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment and follow‑up along the continuum of care
• Demonstrate competency and use comprehensive nursing expertise

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program (AACN, ACEN, or NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred. Holds an unencumbered RN license in the state of practice; may hold multi‑state licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and maintains required department‑specific competencies and certifications.

Lead Paramedic Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree in Paramedic Technology or Paramedicine preferred. Minimum of two years of paramedic experience in an ambulance setting. Thorough knowledge of paramedic principles, practices, and techniques, including equipment troubleshooting. Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and national registry status at a paramedic level. May need state licensing and additional certifications such as Paramedic (PAR), NIMS Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, and 700, PHTLS, ITLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP, depending on location. Holds a valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
