Lead Line Cook — French-Inspired Kitchen, Theater District, Manhattan Placed by Mise Placement · Represented by a former head chef
A relaxed French bistro in the heart of the Theater District is looking for a lead line cook who's ready to do more than cook — someone who wants to help build and run a kitchen the right way.
This role carries real responsibility. You'll work directly with the chef to establish how the kitchen operates — from recipes and prep organization to training standards and service execution. If you're someone who takes ownership, leads by example, and wants a kitchen that actually runs the way it should, this is the opportunity.
The role pays $1,500/week ($72k annually) plus end-of-year bonuses and two weeks paid vacation.
What you'll be responsible for: — Running and leading service alongside the chef — Helping create and enforce kitchen standards, recipes, and prep systems — Training incoming cooks and holding the team to a consistent standard — Maintaining prep organization and ensuring the line is always ready — Assisting with inventory management and kitchen organization — Building and enforcing practices the whole team can follow and repeat
What we're looking for: — Demonstrated leadership experience on a line — people follow you because you've earned it — Someone who stays composed, sharp, and focused during busy lunch and dinner service — A cook who understands that consistency is the job, not just the goal — French cuisine background is a plus — passion for the craft matters more — Someone who wants to grow into a senior kitchen role, not just fill a position
What's on offer: — $72,000 annually — End-of-year bonus — Two weeks paid vacation — Real leadership visibility in a kitchen that rewards people who take initiative
