Lead IP Litigation Paralegal

EXPERIENCED PATENT TRIAL LEADER | REMOTE U.S. | NATIONAL SEARCH

$140,000–$180,000 BASE

You have spent years mastering complex patent litigation and leading trial teams through high-stakes disputes. Your next move should give you more influence without taking you away from the work you do best.

At Avantech, it can.

We are seeking an accomplished patent litigation paralegal with extensive experience leading major patent matters through trial. You will bring deep knowledge of patent litigation, a proven record as a lead paralegal at multiple patent trials, and the ability to direct both courtroom and war room execution, as well as the paralegal team supporting those efforts.

This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of sophisticated matters, work directly with experienced trial lawyers, develop a talented paralegal team, and help shape the systems and technology behind a growing IP litigation practice.

This is a hands-on leadership role with meaningful responsibility for someone who has already demonstrated excellence at trial and wants to bring that experience to a firm where individual judgment and initiative carry real weight.

A Different Kind of IP Firm

Avantech Law was founded in 2021 by experienced lawyers with a clear conviction: exceptional legal work should draw on the right combination of legal judgment, multidisciplinary talent, technology, and flexible pricing to serve the client and the matter.  We are continually refining how we practice law—modernizing processes, thoughtfully adopting technology, and finding better ways to deliver excellent work.

Recognized in the Chambers USA Guide and Best Law Firms for intellectual property litigation, Avantech brings sophisticated legal capability to a leaner, more direct operating model. Experienced professionals work closely together, each person’s contributions matter, and people have meaningful opportunities to improve the practice.

Your expertise will help shape both the matters you lead and the way the firm operates.

Why Make This Move?

·       Lead consequential patent litigation. Take ownership of paralegal execution on sophisticated, high-stakes patent matters, including major trials in leading patent venues.

·       Leadership without leaving the practice. Continue doing the substantive, hands-on paralegal work as core to your role while taking on greater responsibility in case preparation, trial execution, and litigation strategy.

·       Build capability around you. Share your knowledge, strengthen standards, and improve how work is allocated and delivered.

·       Help shape the practice. Bring your experience to inform decisions about workflows, litigation technology, and AI to improve quality, efficiency, and trial readiness.

·       Work remotely. Live where you love and support national patent litigation, with travel only when matters and firm needs require it.

·       Be recognized for your expertise. Be valued and compensated for the experience, judgment, and leadership you bring.

What You'll Own

·       Lead complex patent litigation.  Take ownership of paralegal execution across all phases of high-stakes patent matters, personally handling substantive case work and ensuring that litigation teams are organized, prepared, and supported.

·       Manage discovery and eDiscovery. Perform document collection, processing, review, and production, taking hands-on responsibility for execution, quality control, and coordination with vendors and attorneys.

·       Trial preparation and courtroom execution. Take primary responsibility for trial readiness, providing courtroom support, and performing trial-site operations to ensure that attorneys have the resources and support needed throughout trial.

·       Lead paralegal team.  Direct assignments, manage workloads, maintain quality standards, and develop other paralegals while remaining personally involved in demanding case work.

·       Anticipate and manage case needs. Maintain command of court rules, deadlines, staffing needs, and execution risks, resolving issues proactively and minimizing unnecessary attorney involvement.

·       Improve litigation processes and technology. Strengthen workflows, trial preparation standards, and knowledge sharing while advancing the effective use of litigation software tools, automation, and AI.

The Experience You'll Bring

·       Deep patent litigation experience.  Typically, 10–15 years of sophisticated litigation experience, including approximately 7–10+ years of meaningful patent litigation experience. Depth of experience and responsibility matter more than tenure alone.

·       Proven patent trial leadership.  Served as lead paralegal in multiple federal patent trials, with direct courtroom responsibility and hands-on experience managing trial war rooms, logistics, vendors, and trial-team support.

·       Major patent litigation venues. Significant experience in leading patent venues, particularly the Eastern District of Texas and District of Delaware, with a strong command of applicable local rules and procedures.

·       Hands on eDiscovery expertise. Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex document productions, including collection, ingestion, review workflows, production, and quality control using leading eDiscovery platforms.

·       Paralegal team management. Demonstrated experience mentoring other paralegals, assigning work, managing competing priorities, reviewing work product, and developing team capabilities.

·       Comprehensive litigation knowledge. Strong command of infringement and invalidity contentions, claim construction, depositions, expert discovery, hearings, federal filings, preparing exhibit lists and deposition designations, and trial procedures.

·       Independent judgment and execution. Proven ability to anticipate needs, solve problems under pressure, manage complex deadlines, and work directly with experienced trial lawyers with minimal supervision.

Additional experience that may distinguish your candidacy includes post-grant proceedings, Federal Circuit appeals, Hatch-Waxman or life-sciences matters, Relativity, CS Disco or comparable eDiscovery platforms, trial presentation technology, and AI-enabled workflows. These capabilities are valued but are not all required.

Why You'll Thrive Here

You are exceptionally dependable, self-directed, and constructive under pressure. You create structure when priorities shift, communicate proactively in a remote environment, and are committed to continuous improvement.

You can move comfortably between complex and tactical work. You care about the details, understand what matters most, and are willing to step in and do what the case requires. You are motivated by meaningful responsibility and making a difference.

Success means:

·       Partners and senior associates trust you with critical paralegal execution.

·       Deadlines, dependencies, and risks are visible and managed early.

·       Minimal Attorney involvement on routine paralegal execution.

·       Other paralegals grow stronger through your coaching and delegation.

·       Workflows improve, handoffs become clearer, and the team is better prepared when pressure increases.

Compensation, Benefits & Location

·       Base salary: $140,000–$180,000, based on experience, capability, market, and alignment with the role.

·       Annual performance-based bonus opportunity.

·       Health, dental, vision, and life insurance.

·       401(k) with firm contribution.

·       Flexible paid time off.

·       Home-office and professional-development support.

·       Remote U.S. position; national search.

·       Periodic travel for trials, hearings, depositions, other case needs, and selected firm gatherings.
