Lead Installer

Position Summary: The Lead Installer is responsible for completing a variety of tasks associated with quality installation of residential HVAC equipment. The Lead Installer will receive routed work from dispatch, report to the assigned job site on time, and perform work to the company’s quality expectations. All NHS installers will promote warranty products to Pivotal customers. This role requires a valid driver’s license to operate a company vehicle and must be refrigerant certified. The individual will always be responsible for working and driving safely in the maintenance of residential HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously provide the customer with the highest levels of customer service.
  • Understand and comply with all safety policies, including calibrating the gas sensing tool every month.
  • Install most furnaces, condensers, humidifiers and accessories with no assistance.
  • Master electrical wiring of furnaces, condensers and thermostats, including high and low voltage wiring.
  • Thoroughly understand and comply with NHS inventory policies and procedures; account for inventory used in work.
  • Install sheet metal duct systems, connect gas lines, cut and thread pipe, and install copper refrigerant line to air conditioning units, including soldering and brazing.
  • Complete all tasks sent, including billing customers correctly, ordering parts and materials, and handling paperwork properly, timely and legibly.
  • Use good time management to make effective use of travel and keep non‑productive time down during inventory re‑stock and pickup of parts and materials; cycle count inventory upon procurement request.
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical competence and the ability to use analytical techniques to solve problems.
  • Comply with all corporate and department policies and procedures; develop strong credibility with co‑workers and leadership.
  • Accurately diagnose problems or conditions.
  • Use good people skills and judgement with customers to provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Work with the PHS Prevention and Safety Team to keep safety as the #1 priority by submitting good catches from the field.
  • Maintain expected productivity, quality and safety metrics as outlined by the NHS Field Operations Department and show willingness to continue learning and training.
  • Be prepared for climbing, extreme hot or cold (outdoors), heavy lifting, loud noise, use of ladders, crawling into crawl spaces and attics, and working at heights.
  • Wear PPE as required and be aware of overhead hazards and equipment operations.
  • Be able to reach, bend, extend, and lift 50–60 lbs.

Education

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent work experience is required.
  • HVAC certification or vocational/skill training experience in HVAC in lieu of certification.

Computer Skills Needed to Perform the Job

  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites.
  • iPad usage.

The base pay range for this position is $32.24 to $47.50 per hour. Compensation may also include an annual performance‑based bonus, sales incentive plan or commission target.
