Lead Information Security EngineerThis position is a senior role for implementing Managed Security Services (MSS) in a Federal Security Operations Center (FedSOC) environment.
The role involves providing customers with constant monitoring, protection, prevention, and detection services, as well as reporting and incident analysis. The Lead Information Security Engineer will serve as a technical expert, designing and implementing DDoS Mitigation for Federal Customers and providing subject matter expertise on worldwide DDoS threats.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on DDoS attacks, mitigation, and threat analysis.Perform DDoS worldwide intelligence collection, analysis, reporting, and dissemination.Research, recommend, implement, and administer Threat Feeds.Interface with DDoS service vendors and act as a technical expert for clients and internal teams.Perform complex changes within the managed security environment and manage customer service faults.Monitor, triage, and respond to alerts for client security events, including investigation and resolution.Generate and escalate incident cases in accordance with time and severity-based SLAs.Develop enhancements to existing solutions and promote the creation of new tools and processes.Directly support, train, and mentor Tier I and II colleagues.Maintain communication with peers and other functional teams.Required QualificationsEducation: A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Cyber Security, or a Master of Science in Computer Science or Information Technologies is required.Experience: 5+ years in a Network Operation environment and an additional 5+ years in a Firewall Operations environment is preferred.
Experience in large enterprise network operations using BGP is necessary.Technical Skills: Expertise in DDoS attack tools, countermeasures, routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), and network protocols (TCP/IP, IPV4/IPV6) is required. The ability to review and analyze packet captures is also necessary.Clearance: Candidates must be able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance as a condition or continuation of employment.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Cyber Threat Intelligence and interfacing with the intelligence community.Expert-level certifications in security technologies such as Fortinet, Arbor, Radware, Palo Alto, Cisco, or Checkpoint (e.g., CCIE, CCNP Security, PCNSE, NSE7).Demonstrated understanding of Web Application Firewalls (WAF) attack tools and mitigation techniques.Hands-on experience with leading Cloud-based DDoS mitigation and WAF platforms (e.g., NETSCOUT, Cloudflare, Akamai, Radware, AWS Shield).Expert knowledge and skills in at least one programming language, with Python being preferred.Compensation & BenefitsThe anticipated base salary range for this position is $114,082 - $152,109 annually. This information reflects the anticipated base salary range based on current national data, and minimums and maximums may vary based on location.
