With minimal supervision, organizes, distributes, prioritizes workflow; supports, trains, orient staff within Health Information Management department. Ensures quality and accuracy in record processing and completion using Horizon Patient Folder. Assists team with monitoring chart deficiencies in accordance with PHS policies, JCAHO, CMS and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations. Constant monitoring of prepping, scanning, indexing and quality analysis to ensure quality and quantity of work meets performance level expectations. Identifies and assists with the integrity of suspension process as well as coordinating the warning/suspension notifications. Communicate organizational information; model expected performance levels and appropriate behaviors and facilitate employee work performance through adequate support and training.

Hours & Shift

Hours: Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Work Shift: Varied Days and Hours (United States of America)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient confidentiality and excellent customer service standards are met and exceeded
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of workflow processes and daily operations within the Health Information Management department and Horizon Patient Folder
  • Communicate necessary information to maintain staff in alignment with organizational vision, values and strategies
  • Liaison to the Manager and Supervisor
  • Responsibility for orienting and training new staff
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely record processing throughout the Health Information Department
  • Maintain and encourage appropriate productivity and quality standards for Medical Records personnel
  • Maintain and monitor Physician suspension log detailing all known suspension issues related to medical record completion
  • Recommend appropriate action plans where appropriate
  • Monitor productivity and quality of work performed within the McKesson Electronic Medical Record in relation to record processing and completion
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, JCAHO, PHS Policies and Medical Staff CMS/JCAHO standards and regulations
  • Maintain reports, records and statistics
  • Model effective performance levels and appropriate behavior in alignment with organizational/departmental expectations
  • Distribute and prioritize work equitably to staff members
  • Demonstrate skills at problem resolution and act as a resource for staff dealing with problems
  • Support established objectives for customer response on retrieving medical information to internal/external providers
  • Support established productivity objectives for all duties within the Health Information Management department

Qualifications

  • High School graduate, (G.E.D.) required
  • Associate's degree or 2-3 years post-secondary education required or experience in lieu of education may be substituted in accordance with organizational practice
  • Two to four years relevant experience, with at least two years experience working in Health Information Management, acute care hospital environment required
  • Must be proficient in all areas of the Health Information Department
