Lead Estimator

Location: Pottstown, PA | Schedule: Full-time, Hybrid

Overview

A well-established commercial construction firm is seeking a Lead Estimator to guide projects from initial bid through contract execution. This role suits an experienced estimator with a strong background in commercial construction, particularly interior tenant fit-outs, who can bring organizational rigor and strong negotiation skills to every stage of the estimating process.

What you'll do

• Prepare comprehensive estimates for commercial construction projects
• Review construction drawings and bid documents to quickly identify, comprehend, and address project requirements
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive construction schedules
• Develop and issue RFIs relating to construction drawings and bid documents
• Negotiate final contracts with subcontractors regarding scope, pricing, and terms
• Interact professionally and effectively with clients and subcontractors throughout the estimating and construction process
• Communicate and over-communicate with team members and clients to ensure alignment and keep projects moving forward
• Utilize construction management software programs, such as Procore, to support estimating and project activities
• Utilize Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project
• Travel as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required qualifications

• Proficient in working with various construction management software programs, such as Procore
• Skilled in developing comprehensive construction schedules
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project
• Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to negotiate subcontractor contracts related to scope, price, and terms
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Strong ability to quickly review, comprehend, and issue RFIs related to construction drawings and bid documents
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, subcontractors, and team members
• Self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Deadline-driven and able to prioritize work effectively
• Thrive in a fast-paced work environment
• Willing and able to travel as required
• 10–15 years of experience in commercial construction
• 8–10 years of experience in commercial construction estimating
• Experience with interior tenant fit-outs required
• Some ground-up construction experience
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the office location
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future; sponsorship, including visas or C2C arrangements, is not available

Preferred qualifications

• Retail tenant fit-out experience preferred
