Insight Global is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer, SIPI to join the team for a large semiconductor client in San Jose, CA. We are seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineer to lead complex engineering functions related to the design, testing, and evaluation of electrical, optical, and thermal systems for semiconductor testing. This is a permanent, direct-hire opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Simulation

  • Develop and implement SI/PI (PDN, DC, AC) designs for semiconductor test systems and components (PCBA, Load Board, sockets).
  • Simulate and analyze the entire signal path (silicon die, bond wire, pin, PCB, interconnections).
  • Perform SI/PI design and analysis for packages, sockets, interposers, PCBA load boards, and cables.
  • Use high-speed channel simulation tools (ADS, HFSS, CST) and S-parameter modeling.
  • Design and optimize high-speed signal paths for data rates of 64Gb/s and beyond.

Testing & Validation

  • Conduct integration testing, qualifications, and hands‑on evaluation of prototypes and sub‑assemblies.
  • Build and validate signal quality; troubleshoot and optimize signal integrity and power integrity.
  • Create and manage test specifications, evaluation protocols, and initiate engineering change orders.
  • Interpret functional test results and present findings to senior staff and customers.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, QA, technical support, and external partners.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff; recommend and design innovations, improved methods, tools, and processes.
  • Participate in patent applications and memos of invention.
  • Act as a technical contact for customers; analyze requirements and identify risk areas.
  • Own and manage projects, determine technology requirements, and develop strategies.
  • Maintain project schedules (Gantt chart), ensure effective handoffs to Applications, Design, and Manufacturing.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • BS + 10 years minimum or MS + 7 years minimum experience
  • Expert‑level knowledge of: 1. High‑speed signal and power integrity at PCB, package, and system level; 2. High‑speed channel simulation tools (ADS, HFSS, CST); 3. S‑parameter modeling and simulations; 4. High‑speed SERDES (Tx/Rx equalization); 5. PDN/Power Integrity (AC/DC) design/analysis for high‑performance compute, AI, and graphics devices

Compensation:

$160k to $180k annually with additional 40% bonuses paid out semiannually

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
