Remote Full Time Electrical & Energy Engineering

Remote (US) | Competitive + Bonus + Profit Share | Permanent

The company

Our client develops and operates 10 to 20 MW data centers for AI and cloud customers across the US. The business is scaling quickly with a steady pipeline of new builds, and is now bringing electrical design in house for the first time.

The role

As the lead electrical engineer, you will own power distribution from the utility service to the critical load. You will design, review and stamp the work yourself, partner with an engineering team, and build the electrical function as the portfolio grows. This suits a senior engineer, technical lead or working manager who wants to build out their own team.

What you'll do

  • Lead MV and LV distribution design, including transformers, switchgear, switchboards, busway, UPS and generator integration
  • Run or direct one line, load flow, short circuit, arc flash and coordination studies
  • Serve as Engineer of Record and seal drawings and calculations
  • Coordinate with utilities on service requests, load letters, interconnection and energization
  • Write specs, review bids and submittals, and attend factory testing for long lead equipment
  • Support construction and commissioning on site and sign off on test results
  • Create design standards and repeatable reference designs, and hire the team that delivers them

What you bring

  • Active PE in electrical engineering (any US state)
  • BSEE, with a power systems focus a plus
  • 7+ years of MV/LV distribution design, recently in data centers or mission critical facilities
  • Working knowledge of ETAP, SKM or similar, plus NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE and ANSI standards
  • Field experience taking projects through construction, testing and energization
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers and a desire to build a team

Nice to have

  • Substation, large load interconnection, onsite generation, battery storage or microgrid experience
  • Owner's engineer or developer side background

Why this role

  • Shape the electrical practice from day one
  • Opportunity to build your own team, with a title matched to your experience
  • Fully remote, with travel to project sites as needed
