Electrical Engineering LeadThis role is for an experienced Electrical Engineering Lead (physical electrical) with extensive substation experience to support a growing energy engineering practice. The position works as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary team—including civil, structural, environmental, planning, and regulatory groups—supporting energy project design, permitting, and delivery. The ideal candidate will lead and grow substation-focused electrical engineering services, manage physical electrical aspects of projects from initiation through closeout, support business development and client relations, and serve as a client-facing point of contact while demonstrating strong project management, leadership, and seller-doer capabilities.Location(s): Any U.S.

office (Hybrid), Boston/Watertown, Massachusetts (primary compensation reference)Compensation: Estimated salary range: $125,000 – $160,000. Final compensation based on qualifications, education, and experience.Job Function:Lead and grow electrical engineering services supporting transmission and distribution substationsEngage in business development and maintain client relationshipsManage physical electrical aspects of substation capital improvement and maintenance projects from initiation through closeoutCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams and serve as the client-facing point of contact for physical electrical workDevelop and review drawings, material lists, calculations, analyses, reports, and specificationsPrepare one-line diagrams, conduit sizing and layouts, physical layouts and elevations, and equipment specificationsPerform AC/DC calculations and studies including voltage drop, lightning, grounding, and lightingSupport construction through site visits and RFI/submittal reviewsMonitor and manage project financial performanceBuild and mentor a team to support professional development and project successEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field requiredMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred8–11+ years of relevant experience required5+ years of substation experience preferredQualifications:Professional Engineer (PE) license requiredExpertise in physical electrical design for substation projectsStrong business development and market connectivity skillsProven project and client relationship management experienceAbility to oversee designers and CADD technicians in accordance with national design standards and safety codesStrong project management and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong report writing and presentation capabilitiesSelf-motivated with critical thinking abilityExperience with ETAP, CDEGS, CAPE, and Aspen preferredExperience with MicroStation and AutoCAD preferredFamiliarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)Experience working in the northeastern United States preferredAppealing Facts About Living in Boston/Watertown, Massachusetts:Access to a strong and growing energy and infrastructure marketProximity to major engineering, consulting, and utility organizationsRich history, culture, and educational institutionsWalkable neighborhoods with public transit accessVariety of dining, entertainment, and outdoor recreation options
