Lead DevOps Engineer – Houston, United States
Qualifications (Required)
- Strong understanding of the major international futures and derivatives exchanges
- Knowledge of the complete exchange-traded derivatives lifecycle, from order execution through clearing and settlement
- Minimum of 8 years of experience within commodity trading, capital markets, financial institutions, or similar trading environments
- Familiarity with financial data vendors such as Bloomberg and Refinitiv, along with liquidity and execution platforms
- Minimum of 8 years of experience supporting real-time market data systems, including exchange feed handlers and enterprise consolidated data platforms
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with time-series data and analytics technologies such as kdb+, Shakti, or comparable platforms
- 8+ years of operational experience supporting real-time market data distribution platforms, including technologies or components comparable to DACS, ADH, and ADS
- Knowledge of multicast traffic management, feed arbitration, data sequencing, and message-queue technologies
- 5+ years of operational experience supporting time-series databases or analytics platforms such as kdb+, Shakti, or similar technologies
- Strong scripting and programming experience using Python, PowerShell, C#, SQL, or similar technologies
- 8+ years of relevant experience working with FIX connectivity, messaging, or integration
- Proven experience completing exchange connectivity and third-party vendor certification processes
- Knowledge of external trading networks and execution or order management platforms such as TT, NYFIX, Bloomberg, TradingScreen, or comparable systems
- Experience with messaging technologies and troubleshooting network protocols such as TCP and multicast
Responsibilities
- As a DevOps Engineer, you will be a hands-on member of a small, high-performing engineering team supporting global production trading environments. Responsibilities will be shaped by product delivery requirements, operational priorities, platform improvements, and technical debt initiatives.
- Proactively oversee business-critical workflows and improve platform availability, stability, and resilience in partnership with engineering, delivery, and infrastructure teams
- Investigate and resolve technical issues affecting developers, production support teams, and business users
- Act as a technical specialist for initiatives involving electronic and front-office trading platforms
- Support reliable and scalable algorithmic trading systems within a controlled and regulated environment
- Participate in a global on-call rotation alongside development and production engineering teams
- Experience working with algorithmic trading regulations, audit requirements, compliance controls, or RTS 6 would be beneficial
Key Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience implementing effective application deployment and release practices
- 10+ years of experience supporting front-office applications and managing relationships with external technology vendors
- Ability to respond quickly to production incidents, restore trading services, and convert temporary resolutions into sustainable engineering improvements
- Strong experience with system monitoring, root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and delivering long-term reliability enhancements
- Understanding of trading processes, including order entry, execution, allocation, settlement, and regulatory controls
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to assess complex technical information and develop practical solutions
Soft Skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with traders, developers, technical teams, and business stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in high-pressure production environments alongside trading and engineering teams
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and proactive, with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach
- Able to manage demanding deadlines and shifting priorities within a fast-paced trading environment
