Lead Data Center Operating Engineer
Location: Phoenix, AZ 85044
Shift: 2nd shift, Tuesday-Saturday 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Reporting to: Chief Engineer. Additional perks: 8% shift premium.

General Description
The Lead Data Center Operations Engineer is responsible for delivery of best‑practice systems and problem resolution on all data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure (UPS, MV electrical systems, generators, cooling systems, etc.).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems to achieve 100% uptime, including fire/life safety, mechanical systems such as HVAC, chillers, CRAH, CRA, plumbing, and controls, as well as electrical systems such as lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear, power distribution, and transformers, and hot water systems. Monitor, adjust, and maintain refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers; ventilating and water heaters; pumps, valves, piping, and filters; and other mechanical and electrical equipment. Record readings and adjust as necessary to ensure proper operation.
- Analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of problems or malfunctions, and take corrective action.
- Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials and maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Learn and understand the data center site to manage incidents and events that pose risk to critical systems.
- Manage work orders, including CMMS, vendor management, and customer‑facing tickets.
- Understand and comply with emergency escalation procedures.
- Perform additional job duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience operating and maintaining critical data center infrastructure, equipment, and systems.
- 1+ years of experience with CRAHs, AHUs, and central utility/chiller plant equipment or UPS, emergency generators, and switchgear equipment.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience using CMMS or BMS.
Preferred Requirements
- Trade school education, union training, military service, or college education.
- Experience with Corrigo and automated logic control.
- Completion of EPA 608/Universal certification.
- Training in NFPA70E.
