Lead Consultant/EngineerDo you have progressive construction project experience and the drive to lead small to mid-size projects or a sub-group on larger efforts while building strong client relationships?MBP is looking for a Lead Consultant/Engineer to support projects with progressive responsibility across diverse sectors. Ideal candidates are ready to take a lead role on small to mid-size projects or a sub-group on larger assignments and contribute to client-facing coordination and project delivery.ResponsibilitiesProvide guidance on projects from conception through closeout while serving as a key client contact and public interface. Coordinate with Senior Engineer, Construction Manager, or Project Manager to support strategic project objectives. Lead small to mid-size assignments or a sub-group on large projects, exercising independent judgment with periodic guidance. Build productive relationships with peers, superiors, and stakeholders, and contribute to training, development, and company initiatives.
Responsibilities include:Serve in on-site representation roles, including project documentation, cost estimating, scheduling, inspections, quality control/quality assurance, plan review, and records researchMaintain electronic project files in the Project Directory, perform clean-up of records, and prepare files for job close-outAssist with facility and infrastructure sustainment, restoration, and modernization effortsPlan and manage small to mid-size projects and/or lead a sub-group on a large projectExpand participation in training and professional development; engage in marketing activities, involvement with professional associations, and active participation in company initiativesSupport project management responsibilities in close liaison with the Project Manager on small to mid-size projectsAnalyze and optimize internal and external processesPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsExperience:Experienced in construction work activities with demonstrated increasing responsibility, aligned with assigned project typesSector experience may include: federal, state, municipal, K-12 school, water/wastewater, higher education, laboratory facilities, transportation, ports, or marina projectsEducation/Knowledge:Lead Engineer*: Bachelor of Science in EngineeringLead Architect*: Bachelor of ArchitectureLead Consultant: Bachelor Degree in related field OR Associate Degree in Engineering or Architecture with a few years of relevant experience OR years of relevant experience equivalent to the above levels* Local licensing regulations may prohibit use of Engineer or Architect titles without a Professional License; in those cases, the Consultant title shall be used until the Professional License is obtainedEngineering principles; principles of construction management and project controls with specialized knowledge in one or more of the following: scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, construction techniquesThorough understanding of several of MBP's servicesStrong understanding of building codes, laws, and regulations that might affect assigned projectsPreferred Certifications:Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificationConstruction Manager-in-Training (CMIT) certificationProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseWorking toward certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Certified Cost Engineer (CCE), Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), and Certified Associate Construction Manager (CACM)OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification (must possess or obtain within 3 months of hire)Skills and Abilities:Report writing, client coordination, and end-to-end assignment execution from conception to completionProficiency with Microsoft Office programs, CADD, BIM platforms (Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk 360), graphics, scheduling (Primavera Project Planner or Suretrak Project Manager), and cost estimating (RS Means CostWorks)Work within budgets and meet deadlines; identify potential problems and derive recommended solutions from past experiencesSkilled in more than one of the following: critical path method schedules, cost estimating, project budgeting, financial analysis, delay analysis, constructibility and design review, inspections, quantity take-offs, and closeoutsMeticulous attention to detailUtilize computers (including Microsoft Office software) and specialized equipmentUnderstand and track project schedulesCommunicate issues effectively and responsibly, verbally and in writing, with contractors, owners, subcontractors, and team membersObtain and maintain industry certifications specific to assigned dutiesWork collaboratively within a teamStand and sit as needed on project work sites; climb ladders; work at heights; and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditionsSafely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrainGuidance/Responsibility:Assignments are generally received from a Senior Engineer, Construction Manager, or Project ManagerWork independently with periodic guidance and directionPublic and client interface with responsibility for coordination and communicationSupervisory:May supervise technical or support staff on individual project assignmentsWhat We Offer:We're focused on providing the tools and support you need to succeed, both personally and professionally.
